Final dates for our 2013/2014 season are Sunday March, 23 and 30, 2014. On our last Sunday, March 30, 2014, we will be playing some friendly, non-contact shinny with our groups as follows:
- SK1 – 1:05 to 2:00pm
- SK2 and SK2/Hockey – 2:00pm to 3:00pm.
SK1 and SK2 participants should bring a hockey stick. We can find one for you if you don’t have one.
It has been another wonderful season and the instructors of Ted Reeve Arena Skating – Hockey School wish you and your families a safe, fun and sports-filled spring and summer. We hope your children have grown their skills and passion for the greatest game on earth.
Tentatively, our 2014/2015 season will commence on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at 1:00pm.
Thanks to those who pre-registered for the 2014/2015 season. Registration for SK1 is now full. We will be taking Registration for SK2 and SK2/Hockey sessions on September 7 and 14, 2014 starting at noon in the Ted Reeve Arena snack bar or lobby, for students aged 8 and older.
We continue to seek additional on-ice volunteers to help with the Skate 1, Skate 2 and/or Skate 2/Hockey sessions. Coaching experience and certification are helpful, but not required. Patience, commitment and a positive attitude are essential. Please consider volunteering with us next year. Please ask for a Volunteer application form.
And to our students, you have worked hard this year, and you can feel proud, very proud, of what you have accomplished. Here is an excerpt from a Don Cherry rant just for you:
“Kids, I’m gonna say it again to you. Hockey parents are the best parents in the world; the most unselfish, generous parents in the world. Who else would get up at 7:00 in the morning/6:00 in the morning, pay all that money, thousands, thousands they pay for equipment, hundreds of dollars they pay for the ice-time, travel miles, travel miles, with the car, it’s a wreck, you know what it’s like. Stand and freeze all the time, drinking that awful coffee early in the morning.
We separate the wheat from the chaff very, very early. Nobody would be in hockey unless they are dedicated.
Now kids, once in a while, you go up and thank your parents because I’ll tell you something, they’re the best, most unselfish people in the world. And they love you.”
Go Leafs!
